Bring ease and simplicity to your music collection. Here’s our full review of the n7player.

n7player is an innovative music player specifically built for Android devices. When you first open the app you’ll notice a lengthy syncing process to allow the music player to recognise all of the songs and albums are stored on your device. From this point onwards, n7player comes in to a league of its own.

Music is searchable by the many standard ways as you’d expect; with users able to find their music simply by searching for a specific song, album or artist. On the other hand, n7player offers a list of innovative and colourful ways of finding something to listen to. In one instance you can search through album art, and zoom in on specific ones to take a closer look. On another you’re shown a panel of variously sized tiles representing different artists, with the bigger panels symbolising the higher amount of listens they’ve had.

Each album can be played in full, and each track is listed with their timings and other basic info. If listening to a whole album isn’t your thing, then you can customise which particular tracks you want to listen to, and in what specific order. The app will also recommend similar tracks as you listen.

  • Google Drive review

Google’s very own storage service keeps your files in the cloud. Here’s our full review.

Google Drive has plenty of competition when it comes to cloud storage apps. Users have been using the likes of Dropbox, SugarSync and Box for months now, and although Google are late to join the party, they have undercut their opposition by offering some of the cheapest cloud storage prices to their users.

The app itself uses a stripped back menu system, and everything you need can be accessed in just a few presses and swipes of the screen. The same can be said about the content uploader, which cuts out the fuss of having to manually go through several menus to upload just a single document, and instead allows for bulk uploads of all files. Although trying a bulk upload of our favourite songs instantly crashed the app.

With many of the Google apps, there’s a big focus on integration and combining the features of each app to maximise the Google experience. Google Drive is no different and can be synced with plenty of other apps. All your Google Calendar appointments can be added, tracks from Google Music can be stored, but the best integration is with its Docs app. Through Drive you can create a new document with Google Docs and upload it instantaneously. This doesn’t just apply to word documents, as you can also create spreadsheets and powerpoint presentations through Drive as well.

Puzzles and ninjas are the perfect combination. Read on for our full iSlash review.

iSlash is a puzzle game that on the surface looks simple, but when you dig a little deeper, it turns out to be a difficult yet rewarding gem. The premise of the game is simple; perform slashes on the shape you’re shown until they’re down to a certain size indicated by the bamboo at the top of the screen. The only problem here is that the shapes have several ninja stars flying inside its frame, and your slashes must keep all the stars in one section, and cannot touch the stars either.

This both requires patience and quick fingers, and timing slashes to keep all the stars together gets tough quickly. Stars are different sizes, and some travel faster than others, meaning you need to judge a variety of elements before performing each slash.

The quicker and less slashes you use to reach the target size, the more stars you’ll get at the end of the level. In total there are 3 stars for each level, and in total there are 100 levels to complete with more being released soon.

Beam your favourite videos directly to your television with Twonky Beam. But is it worth a download?

Your smartphone is capable of a lot of things, and the apps you choose to download can increase the functionality of your device even further. Twonky Beam is one app that takes the functionality of an Android device, and aims to attempt something completely different.

The app acts as a beaming service, allowing you to instantaneously send videos you watch through the Twonky app, directly to your TV. Upon opening the app for the first time, there’s a tutorial that will give you the insight in to how the app works, and is definitely worth following.

The home screen is filled with various sites which offer video content. Some sites are more recognised than others, but all include a decent amount of media content on them. Some video content on certain sites will only work in certain countries, and one or two required payment to view some videos.

Instagram is one of many photo-editing apps available on the Google Play store. But is it the best?

The Instagram app has long been established as one of the most sophisticated and best designed photography apps available for iOS, and now finally it’s readily available for Android devices.

There are two very distinct sides to the apps that will cater for two very different audiences. On one side you have a strong social aspect, with the ability to contact other users and add your Facebook contacts to your Instagram experience. There’s a profile system that can be used to showcase your details and what photos you like; although it was a little bit basic when compared to many other social media juggernauts. As you browse through photos, you can leave comments and ‘like’ them, or follow that person’s photo stream to have full access to any photo they then upload.

The photography aspects will cater for any novices looking to add a simple effect to one of their photo’s, or seasoned photographers looking for a new way to edit and showcase their work. There are a variety of effects that can be applied, including many colour and light variations. Simple editing techniques like cropping are also present, and clearly labelled making them easy to find. The more serious editors will take much joy from the range of options available, and the more detailed options can be uncovered by exploring the app fully.

  • My Budget Book review

Keep an eye on your accounts with My Budget Book. But is it worth paying for?

Keeping an eye on what goes in and out of your back account is of vital importance to most people. My Budget Book aims to give its users a detailed and comprehensive system of being able to track and update your accounts wherever you’re. The app is easy to navigate, and each section is clearly marked. The downside to this is, is that there may be a few too many menus to wade through, and there’s plenty of financial jargon which may confuse some people.

The accounts system lets you add the details of any accounts that are in your name, and manage the transactions that take place through it. Once you’ve inputted several transactions, the app will form a bank statement styled document for you to look through. If looking through documents isn’t your thing, then you can check out several charts and graphs relevant to your accounts, and pinpoint where your expenditure is highest. This level of detail and accuracy is something not usually found in these type of apps, and it makes the app a real pleasure to use.

There’s plenty to like about My Budget Book, and if you’re looking for a sophisticated and comprehensive work app that will help you keep tabs of your account, then it really is second-to-none. The menu system is great, but the various choices may confuse some users, however.
