Launching new social media apps are a common feature on the Android Market, all vying to be the next Twitter or Facebook. One project that we’ve recently stumbled upon is GetLunched, another social media launch, but with an intriguing twist.

Bringing together various elements of sites such as Linked In, Foursquare and Groupon, GetLunched promotes itself as a ‘social-business networking’ site, allowing its users to arrange formal meetings, dates or a face-to-face chat over lunch. To do this, GetLunched sources the best local lunch deals in the area, meaning not only do you get the networking that GetLunched offers, you even get a discount on your lunch.

What makes GetLunched really stand out to us, is that it’s a great way for people looking for work, or people looking to kickstart a career in a new field, the chance to organise a meeting with influential people in many job sectors.

Matt Bandy, getlunched.com co-founder, says: “Technology has brough us full circle allowing us to go back to networking the traditional way – face-to-face. We let people discover their local connections and give them a reason to meet up.”

GetLunched is still in its web-based beta form, but the app is imminent. We look forward to giving GetLunched a full review on its release.

Thanks to our friends over at GetLunched, we’re able to give you the chance to sign up to their beta service, giving you the chance to get to grips with it before the release of the official app. Simply open up  http://beta.getlunched.com/ and enter our exclusive invite code: GetLunched–LGR on the Join Up page.
